CALATRAVA, LEGENDARY PURITY

Patek Philippe in continuous evolution with its most emblematic collection

With more than 180 years of uninterrupted experience and technical knowledge passed down from generation to generation, Patek Philippe continues to update one of the most legendary collections of the watch brand, Calatrava.

Based on the round and stylized shape of the case, which has made Calatrava models famous since 1932, Patek Philippe has redesigned it, decorating its sides with the “Clous de Paris” guilloché motif, emblematic of the Manufacture.

This polished motif that forms small pyramids stands out on the bezel of the famous Calatrava "Clous de Paris" reference 3919 from 1985, which has continued to be manufactured for more than 20 years and has become one of the best-known watches in the entire world. watchmaking universe. In 2021, this decoration returned strongly to the reference 6119, with versions in rose gold and white gold. Although the Calatrava model has had various modifications and versions over the years, it has been, and always will be, the most distinctive watch from the prestigious Swiss manufacture. So much so, that its collection has been named after the brand's emblem, the Calatrava Cross, a symbol of perseverance and success, since 1887.

A symbol that, for 135 years (in 1887), the Geneva manufacturing company officially registered and that coincides with the year of founding of Pere Quera S.A., consolidating, in this way, one of the many links that link both families. The first release of the collection appeared in 1932 (ref. 96), 64 years after Patek Philippe invented the first Swiss wristwatch in history. Inspired by the minimalist principles of Bauhaus, a German school of architecture and applied arts, this model with a round case was born to perfectly reflect the circular architecture of the movement.

The collection has been enriched over the years: new watches, new calibers, horological innovations, pure and refined designs, giving rise to one of the richest collections of the manufacture.

Whether with a flat or rounded, smooth bezel, with set or guilloché diamonds, in an extra-flat version or with a more robust case, in an "Officer" version, with a classic dial or with a small technical touch, the Calatrava model retains its purity and legendary discretion, as well as its particular status as a watchmaking icon that seduces each new generation thanks to its timeless design and its perfect indifference to fashion. Hence, Calatrava establishes itself as the quintessence of the classic round wristwatch and constitutes one of the most beautiful symbols of the Patek Philippe style.
