THE CELEBRATION OF 140 YEARS OF BREITLING BEGINS WITH THE AEROSPACE B70 ORBITER

140 YEARS OF FIRSTS: THE AEROSPACE B70 ORBITER BY BREITLING

.

Founded in 1884, Breitling celebrates its 140th anniversary this year. Throughout this year, the brand will celebrate the incredible innovations that have defined the brand, from its advances in timekeeping for land, sea and air to its milestones in sustainability.

Today, Breitling celebrates the 25th anniversary of the first non-stop balloon flight around the world with the launch of the Aerospace B70 Orbiter. On March 21, 1999, aeronauts Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones completed a daring journey by landing the Breitling Orbiter 3 in the Egyptian desert. They shattered records and defied expectations, becoming the first to circumnavigate the earth non-stop in a balloon.

The watch pays tribute to an adventure that expanded the horizons of human achievement. The 25th anniversary edition of the Aerospace B70 Orbiter features a bright orange dial (the same as the Orbiter 3 capsule) and contains a piece of history: through the transparent case back you can see a fragment of the Breitling balloon Orbiter 3 original. The caseback also features, along its perimeter, the Breitling Orbiter 3 mission logo and the inscription «First non-stop flight around the world 25th anniversary.”
